WikiGap 2018, 2019, and 2020 were successfully organized in collaboration with the Igbo Wikimedians User Group, contributing significantly to the visibility of women on Wikipedia.
In April 2020, Wikimedia User Group Nigeria participated in the Visibility Project, a joint initiative with African Women in Media and sponsored by UNESCO. Uzoma Ozurumba, Co-founder of the Igbo Wikimedians User Group, served as a facilitator and mentor during the program.
The same initiative saw collaborative participation with the Wikimedia Community User Group Tanzania and Wikimedia Community User Group Uganda, fostering cross-regional engagement.
In another notable collaboration, the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria, alongside the Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa Wikimedians User Groups, jointly executed the Decolonizing the Internet project in partnership with the Goethe-Institut.
Wikimedia User Group Nigeria has also teamed up with Afrocrowd, Oregon State University (USA), and Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta to host an edit-a-thon celebrating Black History Month. The two-day event saw participation from over 30 editors, with 5 new articles created and more than 6,020 words added to Wikipedia.
